Medical practice expands to Unser Gateway with $1.8M building
The Unser Gateway in Rio Rancho is welcoming another medical face to its growing market of health care businesses and facilities: Gonstead Physical Medicine.
Formerly known as Gonstead Chiropractic, the eight-year old medical practice has changed its name and will move its Westside Albuquerque operations to 1920 Westside Blvd, just north of the Presbyterian Rust Medical Center.
According to Brittney Del Angel, owner and office manager, the move will mean an expansion of services and a significant upgrade in facility space.
“It’s been in the works for a year, but it’s been a long time coming. We’re growing and the services that we’re offering now are different than they were when we started eight years ago,” she said. “The new clinic is double the square footage of our current Westside clinic and we’ll have additional office [space] that we’ll be leasing.”
The new clinic will offer a wider range of services, including massage, spinal decompression, dry needling, trigger point injections and more. A full-scale rehabilitation facility will also be part of the new space. The company opted to change its name in order to reflect the expansion of its service offerings.
According to co-owner Dr. Anthony Del Angel, costs for the 7,000-square foot space amount to $1.8 million. Studio Southwest Architects has been tapped to design the building and Facility Build will construct the new space. Additionally, plans are in place to add more doctors, nurse practitioners and other employees in the coming months. The company currently employs seven doctors.
Gonstead Physical Medicine currently operates two locations in Albuquerque — one at 1632 Alameda Blvd. NW on the Westside and another at 8001 Wyoming Blvd. NE. The Alameda location will remain open until the new building opens in July.
